Namaste,
Joyce
Professor Joyce Simard!
I’m delighted to report that the second NCI conference was a resounding success! Many of those attending fed back that they wanted more time to hear from the NCI Champions, so next year we will give them more time to talk about how their country is implementing Namaste Care. I just heard that someone from Germany is going to speak about Namaste Care at a forthcoming conference. I will also be speaking in Singapore for the Alzheimer’s Disease International (ADI) 34th International Conference March 12 - 21 2020, and that may lead to more opportunities as we expand Namaste Care.
I’m almost finished with the third revision of the “End of Life Namaste Care Program for People with Dementia”. This revision will truly be international, with ideas and vignettes from many countries.
I’ve also recently had an article “Back to the Bedside” published in ‘Caring for the Ages’, the official newspaper of the Society for Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medicine in the USA. You can read it at
www.caringfortheages.com My central message is that continuing to practice what you teach, write about, or expect of others will help you not only become an expert but also test whether it has intended meaning and value.
